Daniel Tells Us When


	The Old Testament not only tells of a coming Messiah, The Old Testament tells us when to expect him. The Old Testament tells us when the messiah was to come.

		Daniel 9:24-25 (The angel Gabriel is speaking to Daniel) "Know therefore and understand, that from the going forth of the command to restore and build Jerusalem until Messiah the Prince, there shall be seven weeks and sixty-two weeks " This amazing prophesy was given to Daniel by the angel Gabriel during Israel's captivity by the Babylonians about 600 B.C., That's about 600 years before the time of Christ. Not only does this prophesy promise that the Jews will return from captivity and rebuild Jerusalem, but that the date of that command will represent a milestone in history from which we can determine when the Messiah will come! The angel Gabriel tells Daniel that the Messiah will come in 62 plus 7 or 69 weeks. These "weeks" are generally regarded as periods of 7 years. 69 * 7 = 483 years. So, what do we have here?: There will be a command to restore and build Jerusalem. Messiah will come in 483 years after that decree.
