Free to Have Peace
No matter what our circumstances, we are “Free to Have Peace.” In this sermon, Pastor Dave Gustavsen talks about anxiety and peace. The level of anxiety in our culture is rising, but Philippians 4:4-9 reminds us we can make choices that will help us overcome anxiety. Rather than being anxious, we can choose joy, gentleness, prayer, beauty, and action.
Sometimes life feels like a prison. The prison walls might be physical sickness, family drama, economic hardship, or mistreatment by others. Over time, self-pity and victimization take hold of our hearts, and we feel trapped. But in his letter to the Philippians, Paul demonstrates a radically different mindset. Writing from a Roman prison cell, with every reason to feel trapped, Paul invites us to a kind of freedom that no chains can take away—a freedom found only through knowing and following Christ.
